BuffBars

Post by Wiploc » Tue Feb 14, 2012 6:56 pm

Been wanting to write this down for a few weeks. Haven’t really set up the BuffBars until recently – which is a shame really as there are some nice benefits to go for – in terms of keeping an overview of cooldowns, pottable effects and such. I will therefore advise just about anyone to give it a go. Just to see if it can help you out as well.

First of all, follow this link:

http://www.lotrointerface.com/downloads/info361-.html

That holds the actual program. Just push “Download” and then follow the instructions in the “How to install FAQ” section.

In the short version; after having downloaded the program, you’ll need to copy the “PengorosPlugins” folder directly into a “plugins” folder you setup yourself in this directory:

C:\Users\*username*\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\

So basically the final link will look like this:

C:\Users\*username*\Documents\The Lord of the Rings Online\Plugins\PengorosPlugins

When that is done you are ready to fly.

So, log onto your LOTRO profile. When you enter the world you now have to “start” buffbars. You do so by typing the following command:

/Plugins load buffbars

You screen will then look something like this:

That is just the initial setup. You now have to organize the buffbars to your liking. The following is what I have adjusted so far which gives me a quite good reaction time on potting fears, wounds, diseases and poisons.

After that work is done, you can move around the various effect boxes - just as anything else on the screen. This is my setup at this point:

When in fight, I can watch the cooldown on various effect as well as looking out for pottable effects. In actions this is the picture I get (with a nice pot popping up ready to use):

Now, I have to stress that there are an enormous amount of setup possibilities. The ones I have tried to show is only the top of the iceberg.

You need to start the buffbars every time you log in (unless you download yet another program to do that for you). Naturally, you do not have to setup it up each and every time - and what is even cooler is the fact that you can copy the file from one character to another and that way have the exact same setup from character to character.

Feel free to add to this post if you have some tips and tricks! And let me know which parts of the post that needs clarification - as this has been forced in on a limited timeframe (may be a bit confusing alltogether).

From U5 onwards, u can select what plugins to load automatically from the character selection screen. :)

My buffbars is set up only to show my own buffs (besides debuffs) because most of my skills give me some sort of a buff or a heal over time or such. It's easy to keep track of what I need to do and how long I have untill said gambit needs to be ready for use. It took a while to exclude all other effects from other classes from the buff section but the good thing is that u can have it show just what u want. :) Also, there's more than one option on how u want to visually have it like.

If not buffbars, please try even one of these plugins to keep u on track of your buffs/cooldowns and what's maybe the most important, u can get popups for pots when u need them, and u have a bigger icon and clear visual on how long u have before it expires. U can then easily read the info on the thing or if u know it by name, know if u want or not want to use a pot.

Here's a screenshot of about all my buffs on. http://jaatiedostosi.com/imeiz/lotro/Sc ... t00280.jpg
